Review Right-to-Left Voiceover Scripts With Mixed Names and Numbers

Check right-to-left voiceover scripts for mixed-direction labels, number order, copy-and-paste changes, readable review files, and accurate spoken output.

Right-to-left voiceover script review needs special attention when the text includes left-to-right names, identifiers, dates, or interface labels. A visually plausible line can change appearance when copied between tools. Keep the approved language text intact, test the actual pasted input, and have a qualified reviewer verify the spoken output rather than relying on screen appearance alone.

Preserve the source text and review context

Keep a master copy in a format that correctly supports the script and paragraph direction. Record the target language and locale, source revision, and segment IDs. Reviewers need enough context to understand mixed-language terms and numbers.

Avoid manually reversing characters to make a line look correct. That can damage the underlying text and create a different error when another application applies its own direction handling.

W3C's bidirectional-text guidance explains why mixed-direction content needs appropriate handling in HTML. Treat that as a display and implementation concern separate from deciding how the words should be spoken.

When a script includes a product code or brand name, preserve its exact approved spelling in a dedicated field. This makes it easier to compare the text before and after copying without confusing visual placement with character order.

Test mixed-direction passages deliberately

Build a small review set containing a local-language sentence, a source-language brand name, an identifier with digits, punctuation, and a date. Use examples that actually occur in the project rather than an artificial string of every possible symbol.

Paste each approved segment into the generation input, then compare it with the master. Check whether line breaks, punctuation, or adjacent labels appear to have moved. If the tool does not display the script reliably, stop and resolve the input path before producing a large batch.

Do not assume a visual correction proves the audio will be correct. Generate a short sample and have the reviewer listen for the intended sequence. The voice may interpret a code as a quantity or merge a brand name with a neighboring word.

For numeric meaning, use the locale-specific readout workflow to keep values, written forms, and spoken forms distinct.

Keep production notes out of the spoken string

Store segment IDs, English explanations, timing notes, and pronunciation instructions in separate fields. Mixing those notes into the target-language paragraph increases the chance they will be spoken or will complicate review.

If a pronunciation workaround is necessary, retain the approved target text alongside it. The workaround should be a reviewed production variant, not a replacement for the authoritative translation.

Use bilingual script QA for semantic review, with a qualified speaker checking both the ordinary target text and any production variant. Do not infer language support from the fact that the text field accepts the characters.

For subtitle work, pass the clean target text to the caption editor rather than copying a visually rearranged generation input. The subtitle alignment process should begin with the approved language content and final audio.

Verify the export and the published display

Listen to the downloaded audio in full for the mixed-direction test set. Ask the reviewer to identify the code, date, or name they heard, then compare it with the intended value.

Inspect the transcript and subtitles in their actual destination. A script that looks correct in a document can display differently in a web player or exported video. Have the implementer address direction metadata and layout using the destination's supported methods.

Record which tools and versions were used for the approved path, along with unresolved limitations. This gives future contributors a reproducible workflow when a new segment contains similar mixed text.

Try the reviewed passage in the voice studio, confirm the actual voice and language combination works for the material, and retain the resulting reference. Expand production only after both the spoken sequence and the displayed text have been checked in the formats the audience will receive.
