Choose a voice-over export sample rate to match the receiving project or delivery specification. A larger number does not recreate detail missing from the source. Keep the original file, use an appropriate conversion when needed, and verify that the exported voice has the correct duration and pitch.
Read the destination requirement first
Find the project's actual audio specification. It may come from a video timeline, a client handoff document, a publishing platform, or the software receiving the file. Confirm it before exporting a large batch.
Separate sample rate from other properties. Channel layout, bit depth, codec, and loudness describe different aspects of a file. A request for stereo does not determine the sample rate, and a request for a particular file extension may leave several technical choices open.
If the requirement is unclear, inspect the receiving project's settings and document your decision. Do not call an arbitrary export preset an industry requirement.
Inspect the source and the editing session
Note the source file's sample rate and the editor's project rate. If they differ, determine how your editor handles imported material. Many workflows resample during playback or export, but the exact behavior belongs to the application.
Adobe's sample-type documentation covers sample-rate conversion alongside channel and bit-depth changes. Use the relevant documentation for your editor to distinguish a true conversion from changing how existing samples are interpreted.
Keep the downloaded or recorded original unchanged. It gives you a reliable starting point if a later delivery needs a different format.
Convert deliberately rather than repeatedly
When the destination requires a different rate, use the editor's resampling or conversion operation and preserve the intended playback duration. Avoid a chain of exports through several intermediate settings when one planned conversion will serve the workflow.
An original example: a narrator supplies a file for a video project, and the editor notices that its rate differs from the timeline. The useful action is to convert or render it through the project's supported process, then check synchronization. Renaming the file or changing a metadata label is not the same task.
Upsampling can make a file compatible with a requirement, but it does not turn a limited source into a newly detailed recording. Choose it for compatibility when needed rather than as a promise of improved speech quality.
Check duration, pitch, and edit boundaries
After conversion, compare the beginning and end with the original. The speech should retain the intended timing and pitch when the operation was ordinary resampling.
If it sounds faster, slower, higher, or lower, investigate whether the sample rate was reinterpreted instead of converted. Stop before processing the entire library with the same mistaken setting.
Review the final dialogue edits in the exported file too. A successful conversion does not prove that the edit handles, fades, or chosen export range were correct. Listen to complete phrases near the first and last boundaries.
Verify the complete delivery, not only the number
Inspect the exported file's properties and open it in the receiving project. Confirm its channel layout, duration, start position, and audible content. Check level consistency if multiple files will play consecutively; clip-gain matching addresses that separate issue.
Use a naming convention that distinguishes the source, editing master, and delivery copy. Keep a brief note of the final export settings so revisions can follow the same path without guesswork.
