Add VocalCopyCat as a personal plugin using ChatGPT developer mode. Availability depends on your ChatGPT account and workspace settings.

Turn on developer mode
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login, then enable Developer mode.

Add your connection
Open Plugins, choose the plus button and name it VocalCopyCat. Paste the MCP server URL above and connect with OAuth.

Sign in and set your limit
Sign in to VocalCopyCat, review the permissions and approve a cumulative credit budget. Enable speech generation only if you want the assistant to create audio.

Invite your voices into the chat
Install VocalCopyCat from your personal Plugins directory. Start a new Work chat, type @ and choose VocalCopyCat. Try one of the prompts below.

Choose an actual available voice and use text and voices you own or have permission to use. Your assistant can help with an existing saved voice; create a new reference voice in My voices.
You stay in control
A connection with clear boundaries.
Your account balance is shared with the website. Estimates spend nothing. Creating speech reserves the approved credits; terminal failures and queued cancellations return the reservation once.
The connection lasts up to 30 days and renews its one-hour access token as needed. Its cumulative budget stays the same. Revoke access any time in Developers.
Finished audio links last 15 minutes. Ask for a fresh link when needed. The integration responds to your actions and checks only work you are actively waiting for.
For your own setup
One package. More ways to connect.
Use the hosted MCP endpoint with another compatible client, or download the portable plugin package for ChatGPT desktop and Codex local marketplace setup. The download includes connection metadata, the editorial cat and a speech workflow skill.
The package is available for private setup. Public directory publication requires a separate OpenAI review.
A little help connecting.
I don’t see developer mode.
ChatGPT availability varies by account and workspace policy. Check your workspace settings or ask its administrator. You can still create speech directly in your VocalCopyCat studio.
I connected, but generation needs permission.
Reconnect with the speech generation permission and approve its credit budget. Read-only connections can browse and retrieve their allowed data. Your spending budget limits access to your existing funds; it does not buy more credits.
My generation is taking a while.
Keep the existing job ID. Your assistant can check that job while you wait and stop after a bounded wait. Ask for it again later to resume. Creating another job may spend credits again.
The plugin’s tools look out of date.
Open your personal connection in ChatGPT Plugins, choose Refresh and start a new conversation. If access has expired or you revoked it, connect again.
